Did you hear? Our Active Transportation Committee is very busy in the community of Truro and would like your feedback on what your vision of a safe community is. Please email LECTruroAT@gmail.com to add your ideas.
The LEC Active Transportation Committee invites you to our last Sunday Street Roll of the year – on October 26th!
The LEC Active Transportation Committee invites you to our last Sunday Street Roll of the year! On Sunday, October 26th , we’ll meet at Truro Civic Square (740 Prince Street) at 9:15am with our bikes and helmets.
Designed for adults of all comfort levels, this is a slow-paced ride that will take us on a loop from downtown Truro to Avery’s Farm Market on Willow St and back. The ride will be approximately 9km.
This ride will expose cyclists to:
- Cycling safely in an urban environment in all seasons
- An inclusive and positive social atmosphere
- The benefit of exploring Truro on two wheels (e-bikes welcome!)
After this Sunday Street Roll, our Active Transportation Committee is taking a hiatus for at least the next 6 months. If you have a passion for active transportation and want to take up a leadership role on this committee in the spring, please send us an email at LECTruro@gmail.com.
Anyone who’s participated in a Sunday Street Roll over the past two years is welcome to join us at
NovelTea around 10:30am after the ride to socialize and celebrate the work of the Active
Transportation Committee!

Route:
Designed for adults of all comfort levels, this is a slow-paced ride that will take us on a loop from downtown Truro to Avery’s Farm Market on Willow St and back. The ride will be approximately 9km.
Safety:
We abide by traffic rules and hand signals as detailed in the Nova Scotia Bicycle Safety handbook, available online at https://novascotia.ca/tran/publications/novascotiabicyclesafety.pdf. We’ll aim to travel in small groups, with a lead and sweep for each group.
Feedback:
We’d love to hear your feedback! Are there destinations you’d like to visit by bike with our group? Do you have route suggestions? Is there anything we can be doing to make the experience better for you? Are there sections of town which you think could specifically use improvements? Share your thoughts via email. We’ll bring your feedback to Town staff, whom we are working with to help promote the Town of Truro Active Transportation Plan. We also invite you to email your councillors directly and share with them that you support the quick implementation of the Active Transportation Plan. You can find contact information for the Mayor and Council on the Town of Truro web page.
Happy cycling,
The LEC Active Transportation Committee
